Gluten Free Milktart Mix
Ingredients:
- Sugar
- The Easy Life Pantry gluten free flour mix
- Cornstarch
- Sea Salt
- a free sachet of Cinnamon
All you need extra:
- 1 Litre Milk
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence
Method:
Pro tip: you can make a traditional milktart by making a crust with 1 packet Tennis biscuits, finely chopped in a food processor and mixed with melted butter. Press the wet crumbs firmly in a bowl that can hold about 1,2 litres. Or use the milktart filling in pancakes…
- Sift contents of packet into a bowl.
- Beat the 2 large eggs with 250ml of the 1 Liter milk.
- Mix the egg and dry mixture together until all lumps are dissolved.
- Heat the rest of the milk (750 ml) in a pot on the stove on medium-high heat. As soon as steam is coming from the milk, slowly add the egg mixture into the warm milk while whisking it. Now whisk the milk until thick.
- Take the pot off the heat and add the vanilla.
- Mix the vanilla evenly into the milktart filling.
- You can now fill your crust with the milktart filling and sprinkle generously with ground cinnamon for a true South African favourite!
Enjoy hot or cold.
